Coed Dodgeball Rules

Game begins by placing the balls (5) along the centerline.  Players take positions along
their teams back line. Following the signal from the official to
start the game, teams may approach centerline to retrieve balls. Once a ball is retrieved, the
player must go back and touch the back line (or pass to a teammate on the back line)
before the ball can be thrown.

1. Players must be 18 years of age or older to participate.

2. Each match is 30 minutes or 9 games (whichever comes first). The team
that wins the most games wins the match.

3. Max of 6 players per team per round. Min of 2 female per team per round. Max
of 4 males per team per round. A team cannot have more than 3 subs from other
registered teams per round.

4. 4 minute time limit per round. One 60 second timeout per team per round. If
neither team has been eliminated at the end of 4 minutes, the team with the
greater number of players will be declared the winner. In case of equal number
of players remaining after regulation, a 1-minute sudden death will be played with
full player count on court.

5. Player is out if any part of their body goes beyond the centerline. Player is out if
they attempt to strike from the centerline. A player holding a ball, must throw that
ball over the centerline within 60 seconds, or they are out.

6. Player is out if hit by a ball thrown by an opponent. If you catch a ball thrown by
an opponent, that opponent is out, AND a teammate can come back in (in
the order of getting out).

7. Once a ball hits any surface (e.g. any body part, another ball, floor, wall, net,
etc.) it is a dead ball. The only exception: if a ball hits a player, that player (and
only that player. Not a teammate.) can catch the ball before it touches another
surface, and get the throwing opponent out.

8. Balls being held by any player is deflection balls. Players may use them to
deflect balls thrown at them. If a deflection ball is knocked out of a players hands,
that player is out. Players who intentionally drop a deflection ball, in order to
immediately catch an incoming ball, are out.

9. Officials will have final say on all plays, outcomes and time.

COED DODGEBALL POLICIES 2016

GAMES:  During the season games are to be played within time allotted (warm up time is included).

FORFEITS: If your team forfeits a game during the season, the following rules apply:

First Offense:  Loss of game and warning issued.

Second Offense:  Loss of game and staff reserves the right to remove team from the league.

Third Offense:  Removal from the league.

If you know in advance that your team is going to forfeit a game, we encourage you to call/email our office so as to help us schedule your opponent a game.

Teams have until ten minutes past the designated start time to field a full squad (minimum numbers of players required to play according to the rules).   The staff and     opposing team must approve anything less than the minimum.

STANDINGS: The updated standings will be posted weekly, displaying each teams rank within its skill level.  Rank is based on winning percentage.

WAIVERS: In order to participate in the league, each participant must sign the team waiver.  Waivers are provided and must be completed and handed in no later than the first night of play.  Players not present the first week of play will still be required to sign a waiver with our staff before participating.

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY: A formal protest may be filed before a game if an opposing playerâ??s eligibility is in question.  The player in question will be required to provide his/her player information (name, address, phone #, signature) in writing to a SM staff member prior to the start of the game.  This qualifies as an official protest.  The game will then be played in its entirety as scheduled.  Teams will be notified of all rulings on the identified eligibility discrepancy by the following business day â?? decisions will not be made on site.  If the protest is proven to be legitimate, it will result in the forfeiture of the game in question.  Games subsequent to the protested game may be rescheduled. The above procedure will also apply for any other â??loggedâ?? protests.  All rulings by SM staff are considered final.

SPORTSMANSHIP: The idea of SM is to have fun.  We hope that all participants keep that in mind when becoming involved.  Although the games may become intense, you still can be competitive while maintaining good sportsmanship.  With this said, any behavior deemed unacceptable by staff may result in suspension and/or ejection from a game or the league.

STAFF: To coordinate and run the league, a staff member will be available at all times to help the league run as smoothly as possible. If you have questions regarding schedules, policies, rule interpretations, directions to the bar, etc. please ask.

PRIZES:  The top teams in each division will receive a prize of great emotional, spiritual, and most importantly, social value.

These policies are designed to make the league run as smoothly and safely as possible, and provide continuity for its participants.  Each player in the league is responsible for this information: please advise your team of these rules and thanks for playing.
